During December, the day of St. Nicholas, trying to cheer in the Annex. Elli, Miep and Koophuis made them gifts, Christmas cake with the inscription "Peace 1944".
Meanwhile, Frank and Van Daan no longer endure difficult cohabitation. The Franks have given their food to Van Daan but they are greedy and selfish. The monotony starts to upset them. They have trapped providers fake ration cards and food they have to eat is very bad, based on cabbage and potatoes.
Ana reviews are becoming more mature time, with greater vision, understanding and wisdom. Scan your life until 1944, saw through a merciless magnifying glass. First, his house bathed in sunshine; then in Annex since 1942, the abrupt change, disputes, reprimands, and so on. She was taken by surprise, as if he had received a blow, and to comfort himself, became insolent. The first part of 1943: Crisis tears, infinite loneliness, slow realization of its shortcomings. She was alone with the difficult task of change itself, so no further prompting accusations are depressed. The second part of the year was a little better, it became young, and older began to regard it rather as one. He began to think, to write stories. After the New Year, was his desire to have a boy as a friend, not a girl. There was also the discovery of his said, under his shell made of superficiality and joy. No longer thought of the misery, but of the beauty that survive.
Ana tastes and interests: writing; family trees on the genealogy of dynasties in France, Germany, Spain, England, Russia, Nordic Countries and the Netherlands; history; Greek and Roman mythology; family photos and movie stars; books on literature and art history; interest in being a journalist because I like to write; dislike math and algebra.

The relationship between them narrows every day and not a day passes without Ana will write to Kitty that she loves Peter. Now his happiness is based on this new friendship. Together they talk about their families, the situation facing, loneliness. Ana believes that he also wants and feels guilt for Margot, who apparently has feelings for him, however, she writes a letter in which he clarifies feel pleasure by the new friendship that has formed with Peter. Peter, Dussel, Van Daan and Mr. Frank went down to see what was happening and then, a couple who walked the lit. For a moment, someone came to the door-closet and tried to open it. Everyone assumed it was the police and the Gestapo discovered. Ana was ready to die for a long time and did not move and remained silent. The toilet stank because all occupied a nerve root. Finally they took the decision to call a Koophuis to notify the theft and to send someone. For 2 or 3 times they tried to open the closet door and someone fell against the door for a few hours. All were silent and calm. When it was over and Koophuis arrived, I was struck by being exposed to out to find out what happened, because now been seen by the couple strolling.
Fourth summary

However, Ana continues to visit Peter and writes a letter to his father to explain his feelings since they are locked: lack of understanding and affection from their parents, whole nights sobbing and how Peter found in a friend who understands and who can share their concerns. Anne's father felt much regret reading this letter for its extreme hardness. Ana realizes his mistake to make similar accusations.
All await the arrival of the British in the Netherlands. Ana believes that this will happen when the British and the Americans they see fit, not when a group of concerned countries decide, because ultimately risking their people.
There is a new wave of anti-Semitism, even those that were good. Ana feels sad because she loves Holland and although has no country, wishes to Holland a beautiful country with noble people, their homeland. However, it is said that German Jewish refugees in other countries will have to return to Germany. Can not understand why the Dutch, a good people, judges the more unfortunate and perhaps, the most pitiable of the world's oppressed people. It remains confident that this wave of Dutch anti-Semitism is temporary, and after the war, they receive them as they once did.
Meanwhile, they have arrested provider legumes because it housed a 2 Jews. Now they will starve in the Annex plus dietary restrictions.
In May 1944 states that Ana is moody, depressed and hopeless. The overwhelm several problems: first, the provider of pulses, the problem of the Jews, the landing does wait, poor diet, stress, depressing atmosphere, the need for freedom, load and danger involved for their protectors, the fear of being discovered. Ana does not feel the same interest as before Peter, after having learned that he could not be the partner friend of his thoughts, has not ceased to aspire to elevate him above his limited horizon and magnify in his youth. Peter admires the strength and humor of Ana and therefore clings to it.
Ana feels that there are more reasons to believe that the war will end because in July 1944 was an assassination attempt against Hitler, not by Jews, Communists or English capitalists, but by a general of the German nobility, an earl, who be discovered was shot by the Fuhrer.
On Tuesday August 1, 1944 is the last letter of Ana Kitty, in this, do a recap of his nature; Ana believes that the Tender, has never made an appearance in the company, not once, but in solitude, his voice almost always dominates. Pure Ana points the way; externally it is only a loose goat of his rope, wild and petulant. See and feel things completely differently from the way expresses speaking, why call it alternatively volandera, flirty, pedantic and romantic. Cheerful Ana laughs at that, responds with insolence, shrugs his shoulders indifferently, claims that could not care less, but Ana Dulce reacts in the opposite way.
Here ends the diary of Anne Frank. On August 4, 1944, the Feld Polizei made irruption in the Annex. All its inhabitants, as well as Kraler and Koophuis, were arrested and sent to concentration camps.
